The first trimester is a shit storm of emotions and physical changes. There is no amount of reading or knowledge seeking that will prepare you for the challenge of the first trimester. It is different for everyone, and as a *disclaimer, I am not a doctor, I am not qualified to give any advice but I do know what worked for me and what I went through. Make sure to speak to your doctor about your pregnancy.*
I struggled both physically, mentally and emotionally in the first trimester and here were my favorite things to get through it all!

Nausea….All Day
I lived off of peppermint oil. If I ever thought that my breakfast of crackers and peanut butter was going to come back up, I pulled out my oil and smelled the oil/put a drop under my nose and the feeling of wanting to upchuck passed. I use Young Living oils. I also used Magnesium spray and lemon suckers. No joke, I ate so many suckers that I had sores in my mouth, but it was worth it!
Extreme Tiredness
The only thing that worked for me was sleeping. Let me tell you, it’s tough. I barely made it past 5pm and would sleep until morning. Unfortunately, it was hard on my husband as well. We went from acting normal, to having a wife that can barely function. Don’t worry, it got better!
Food Aversions & Appetite Loss
I could not eat chicken…in any form. Truly, I lived off of peanut butter crackers for a few weeks. The biggest thing I learned was to stay away from the food that I had aversions to….chicken and to eat what I could. My doctor informed me that early on babies are like leeches and will take what they need from you. So do not worry too much. Make sure to consult your doctor with everything.
Emotional Emotions
I struggled….a lot. I felt like the normal me had been lost forever. I barely watched TV, read books, or talked with my friends or my husband. It was hard on me and everyone else that surrounded me. That made the emotions worse, because I could not give the proper gratitude to those who I wanted to give it to. That mentally takes a toll. So here is what I did:
1. I let it pass. I had to wait it out to be able to feel good again.
2. I journaled and wrote down 5 things that I was grateful for each day. Check out MrsRachelHollis and the StartTodayBrand and the Start Today Journal. It is a fantastic tool!
3. I cried. I let my emotions go, in private and made sure that I felt everything I was going through.
4. Reflection. I reflected on my feelings and thoughts by journaling and it helped me to sort through my thoughts and emotions.
5. I apologized to my husband and those around me. I made it known that I heard them, but I had to work through it.
Here are my favorite items that I used daily!
